Customer Custom Attribute Fields

How do I configure the customer custom attribute fields to show when the customer registers?  I am running version 2.2.6.0.

Look near the end of RegisterCustomerBody.jsp  -  there's an example there for exactly what you want...  look for the text "An example for adding custom attributes."
